For months, India battled a devastating second wave of COVID-19 pandemic that crippled its health system, affected people adversely and wrecking a havoc especially in the lives of the elderly – who accounted for nearly 50 percent of overall COVID positive cases in the country. At a time when the number of daily infections and fatalities have reduced after weeks of lockdowns, Emoha Elder Care, a technology powered community-based comprehensive platform enabling elders to age with grace and relevance, has announced the launch of #EldersFirstFestival to offer the much-needed relief to the elderly by inviting them to be a part of one-of-a-kind #ElderHour events scheduled to take place from Tuesdays till Saturdays every week at 07:25 pm on its platform.

#EldersFirstFestival is a ten-week-long festival of elders that starts today and culminates on 21st August 2021 on World Senior Citizen's Day. The festival has already received support from companies such as OYO, Transport Corporation of India (TCI), HCL, PeopleStrong, TiE Global and Somany Ceramics. Arjun Malhotra, Co-Founder of HCL Group is going to inaugurate the festival today.

These sessions are going to be based on topics which will include post COVID recovery and rehabilitation, emotional wellness and elders, design for aging, 110 ideas to stay active, managing properties and planning for financial wellness to name a few. In addition to this, these sessions will cater to a host of categories such as celebrities, health, gaming nights, Sufi night and Saturday night special.

Celebrating this initiative, Saumyajit Roy, Co-Founder and CEO, Emoha Elder Care said, “This festival has been organised to consciously support senior citizens in these trying times. These engagement focused events are curated with an objective to reduce their loneliness, stress levels and distract them from all their worries while being compelled to stay within the confines of their homes. Interestingly, 07:25 pm is the time that coincides with the different time-zones worldwide. It is that time of the day when most people tend to unwind themselves from a hard day at work. The idea is to spend that precious hour with your elders, make it an everyday ritual. We essentially want to urge the younger generation to stay connected to their elders and take out one hour from their extremely busy schedule and dedicate it to the elders at home.”
