Ambernath: In a bid to improve indoor air quality in the region of Maharashtra, Ambernath Municipal Council and ActiveBuildings have signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) to deploy 66 air purifiers and 33 air sensors under ActiveBuildings's community initiative: Sarva.

According to a recent study by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), there are unsatisfactory levels of air pollution in 28 of the 73 sites (locations) that were monitored. The ambient quality of the air at these sites was classified as being in the "very unhealthy or worse" category. The worst sites were found in Mumbai, followed by Thane, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, and Raigad. These are all industrial regions that produce large quantities of pollution from automobiles, and dust generated by the construction industry and factories.

Prashant Shelke, additional chief officer of Ambernath Municipal Council, at the event held at Ambernath said, "We are glad to partner with ActiveBuildings under their project Sarva to ensure that students start getting access to clean indoor air. Through this event, we aim to create awareness about air pollution and Indoor Air Quality, and educate the masses about the significance of data-accurate technology in Air Sensors and Cleaners."

Adding to Mr. Shelke, Abhinav Gupta, CEO at ActiveBuildings said, "It's a matter of pride for us to support the Ambernath Municipal Council by deploying 66 air purifiers and 33 air sensors under our project Sarva. We would be impacting the lives of around 1500 plus students by providing them access to clean indoor air.
