Reiterating its commitment to social responsibility, IILM University, Gurugram, one of the prominent universities in India has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Mission for Clean Ganga, under the aegis of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.



The signing ceremony took place on April 12, 2023, during an expansive conference organised by APAC and the Ministry of Jal Shakti at the Taj Ambassador Hotel, New Delhi. The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr) Sujata Shahi, Vice-Chancellor of IILM University, and Col Lalit Kapoor, Registrar of IILM University, on behalf of the university, and the Government of India.



The MoU aims at promoting environmental awareness among students who will evolve into future change agents and encouraging them to contribute significantly to the cause of river rejuvenation, water conservation, and cleanliness. The collaboration is expected to deliver a platform for students to gain valuable insights and knowledge about the significance of preserving our rivers and natural resources.



Speaking about the occasion, Prof. (Dr) Sujata Shahi, Vice-Chancellor of IILM University, said, "We are delighted to sign this MoU with the National Mission for Clean Ganga. This partnership is a historic step towards fostering environmental awareness among students and creating a sustainable future for our planet. I am of the firm opinion that this collaboration will inspire our students to significantly contribute to this social cause and make a positive impact on society."



Echoing her opinion, Col Lalit Kapoor, Registrar of IILM University, stated, "We are proud to partner with the National Mission for Clean Ganga and support the noble initiative to rejuvenate our rivers. The MoU will furnish our students with an opportunity to comprehend the importance of river rejuvenation, water conservation, and cleanliness and make a noteworthy contribution to society. We look forward to functioning closely with the National Mission for Clean Ganga in the coming years."



The MoU is a testament to IILM University's commitment to promoting sustainable development and environmental consciousness among its students.



The signing ceremony was also graced with the presence of numerous esteemed dignitaries, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon'ble Minister of Jal Shakti, Government of India, G Asok Kumar, IAS, Secretary & Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga, Government of India, (Dr.) T G Sitharam, Chairman, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India and Archana Verma, IAS, Mission Director, National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India.
