Patna: Police in Patna on Wednesday busted a gang of counterfeiters who were using computer scanners and color printers to print fake notes of various denominations and selling them to their clients for half the cost of the real money value.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a home in Pandarak at the outskirts of Patna and arrested two men who were identified as Badal Kumar and Dharmraj. Based on the information provided by them, police carried out raid in Nalanda district and arrested Ashok Kumar and Manish Kumar while also recovering computer equipment, including flatbed color scanners and color printers.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said that the four men were running the counterfeiting business for the past couple of months though it was not clear if they worked for themselves or were part of a bigger gang with possible connection to other states.
The arrested men were being grilled by the police as they investigate the case. |
