District Central Library of Trichy hosted a seminar on Enhanced External Counterpulsation, a non-surgical treatment for cardiac patients as part of its "MoothorMuttram" a program for senior citizens of Tiruchi district of TamilNadu. District library head Mr.Sivakumar invited the Chief guest Dr.S.Ramasamy and gave the introductory talk. He introduced EECP treatment currently available in 12 Tamilnadu Government Medical college hospitals and covered by the Chief Minister's comprehensive health insurance.

Dr.S.Ramasamy spoke about cardiac disease, its risk factors, and treatment available. He explained how EECP is a unique treatment as its non invasive, cost-effective, and risk-free when compared to other treatment modality. He also elaborated on why patients should modify their lifestyles and the importance of regular walking. He discussed with the patients about the dark side of cardiology and how unwanted bypass surgery and angioplasty were rampant in the country currently and what it means to the patient's health and economic burden.

Many patients who have benefited from the EECP treatment shared their experince. Many from the audience clarified their doubts about cardiac disease.

Mr. Ganesan did thanksgiving speech of the program, he commented, A ton of thanks to Dr. Ramasamy Subramanian, the doctor, with a humane approach. Despite his colorful profile running to pages, he is an unassuming personality. An expert in the field of EECP, his session was to create awareness among the public about the EECP, a non-invasive treatment meant for heart ailments. While the commercial interest is the order of the day in the medical field, this gentleman is an odd man out. Again my personal thanks to this Good Samaritan and his team of staff.

The meeting concluded with the felicitation of Dr.S.Ramasamy by the District library head, Mr. Sivakumar. The staff nurses of the Tiruchy Government Medical college Hospital were also given a shawl from the patients for the help and service they rendered to the patients.
