New Delhi: Digital literacy refers to an individual’s ability to find, evaluate, and clearly communicate information through typing and other media on various digital platforms. It is evaluated by an individual’s grammar, composition, typing skills and ability to produce text, images, audio and designs using technology initiated Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of 10th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2022 during  the 5th session on second day.

“Digital literacy is the ability to navigate various digital platforms and understand, assess and communicate through them. When you read a book on a Kindle, consider the accuracy of a news report linked in your social media newsfeed or create and share a YouTube video, you are displaying digital literacy,” added Dr. Yogendra Narain former Secretary General Rajya Sabha & Chancellor of HNBG University.

The five important skills any one would like to see in Digital literacy are Independent research, Familiarity with terms and common platforms, Collaboration, Adapting to new technology, Teaching or explaining technologies you use expressed Onkeshwar Pandey CEO Observer Global Media Group.

Digital literacy means being able to understand and use technology. Digital literacy skills allow you to find, use & create info online in a productive & useful way. Having an understanding about digital literacy means you’re able to use technology safely and it helps you avoid its dangers said Arun Kumar Tripathi senior journalist.

In digital media, by contrast, you’re no longer the final link in a distribution chain but a node in the middle of an infinite network. You can share content with other people as easily as a producer or distributor shares it with you. Collaboration and dialogue are the norm, rather than solitary creation and broadcasting explained Sahar Zaman   News Editor and founder Hunar TV.

Digital content is permanent: everything that is transmitted is stored somewhere and can be searched for and indexed. When considered together with the concept that digital media are networked, this means that most of this content can also be copied, shared or spread at a trivial cost pointed out by Prof. Ujjwal Chowdhury Secretary Global Media Education Council.

Garima Singh senior Journalist, Manish Pandey Brand Consultant & Social Media Evangelist, Mitali Swamkar of Network 18, Sushil Bharti of Radio Noida, Dr. Shiv Kumar Prof. at AAFT School of Mass Communication & Journalism, Deepak Dubey President Pranam Bharti, also spoke on the occasion.

The event was supported by International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, World Peace Development and Research Foundation, Sahyog Koshish, Prithvi Yoga Centre, Asian Unity Alliance and International Film and Television Research Centre.
