In today’s consumerist way of life, we are spoilt for choice no matter where we look. Schools are no different. For a parent choosing the right board for their child has always been an important choice, but in today’s age it becomes even more vital, with the plethora of options they have at their disposal.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an academically rigorous curriculum offered in English to make students eligible for International Baccalaureate (IB). It is a globally recognized qualification. Some of the best IGCSE schools in Bangalore offer assessments conducted by two UK bodies: Edexcel (or the London Examinations) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). On passing an IGCSE exam a student is eligible for any +2 level qualification such as the 12th CBSE/ICSE, IB Diploma, and A/AS level.

The IGCSE board is in popular demand due to the wide range of subjects that a student gets to choose from which encourages high standards of academics that result from a practical approach to learning. Assessments in an IGCSE curriculum go beyond the conventional methods of testing like written tests, they include oral and listening assessments as well which give students a chance for all round learning.

Students are also given the freedom to choose their subjects according to their interests and inclinations which motivates them to study and gives them the opportunity to do better in their assessments. There is a high focus on English and technical subjects and the subjects are taught at an advanced level.

The syllabus in an IGCSE board has an international approach and is a good choice for students who wish to move to an IB board after 10th grade or are planning on pursuing their further studies overseas.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which is also a rather popular choice of curriculum in India is a board that is usually chosen by parents who have transferrable jobs due to the universal nature of this board. There is a high level of diversity in CBSE schools, students from varying backgrounds end up in the same class, social learning is enhanced in such a setting. The focus on science and math application based subjects is also higher in this board. This is seen in some of the best CBSE schools in Bangalore and is also the reason for most talent search examinations to base their curriculum on CBSE syllabus.
