Divisions of International Affairs & Industry Interface of Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted Indo-Malaysian Industrial Symposium today at LPU campus. For this, 17 CEOs from Malaysian multi-sector Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), representatives of Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) & University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) reached LPU Campus. 20 CEOs from Indian SMEs also attended different valuable sessions and panel discussions for mutual B2B plans and important interactions.



Convention promoted stronger tie-ups between India and Malaysia as both sides’ CEOs are keen to work closely for great results ahead. In fact, Malaysian SMEs Corp & HRDF have been working strenuously under University Programme since 2016 to provide structured learning opportunity to their CEOs. Believing firmly that “formal education can provide a ‘living’, but informal is to give a fortune”, Director UTM Center for Students, Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship, Associate Prof Mohd Zaidi Abd Rozan mediated for this great academia-industry advantage between the two countries.



Informing about UTM as working on its tagline-innovative, entrepreneurial and global, Director Zaidi said: “This visit to LPU is aimed to develop capable CEOs of SMEs to explore and gain knowledge on entrepreneurship, and generate business tools from theory and methodology to applied skills. With such a collaborative effort with university of India ‘LPU’, this conference is indeed going to improve entrepreneurship skills among SMEs.” He was accompanied by CEO Perfect Mix Enterprise Jason Lee; Senior Manager, Business Development SMECorp Roshaidi Rosli; Officer HRDF Mohd Hafiz Mohd Seth; and, CEOs from diverse sectors including Pharmaceuticals, Construction, Academics, Foods, Beverages, Metals and more.



Prior to this, LPU Director Mr Aman Mittal greeted all the visitors at LPU and informed them about illustrious achievements, research-works and academic excellences at the university. Mr Mittal appreciated the untiring and unflinching efforts of Mr Zaidi and the Malaysian CEOs who are keen to have important collaborative ties for mutual benefits. He shared: “I personally feel that UTM has been playing strong role in India initiative. On these lines, we at LPU hope from UTM to bring more and more such interactions, explore exchange programmes and research alliances to foster stronger academics between the two large universities of Malaysia and India.”



On this occasion, delegates from Jalandhar included CEOs of Victor Tools Ashwani Kumar; of Fine Switches Ashok Sethi; of Opex Engineering O.P Uppal; of Om Rubber M.L Aggarwal; and, many other CEOs. Amid informative presentations from delegates of both the countries, fruitful panel discussion on academic industry collaboration and global challenges was also held. In fact, India and Malaysia are connected by various cultural and historical ties that date back to antiquity. On trade front their bilateral trade volume is poised to reach 25 billion dollars by 2020.
