Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, welcomed Ms. Geeta Phogat, an Arjuna Awardee and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, for an engaging interaction with its students. Drawing from her years as a wrestler, she spoke candidly about the discipline behind sporting success, the challenges she encountered along the way and the experiences that stayed with her through the years.



The auditorium broke into cheers when Ms. Phogat walked in to the strains of ‘Dhaakad’. The students applauded enthusiastically as the celebrated wrestler took the stage. Many were excited to see the wrestler they had followed on the sporting stage.



Ms. Geeta Phogat spoke at length about the discipline that the sport demanded, the amount of work that went into preparing for competitions and the need to stay strong when things did not go as planned. She also urged the students to keep working towards what they want to achieve and not let setbacks stop them.



Sharing a message with the students, Ms. Geeta Phogat said, "Success does not come overnight. It takes discipline, hard work and the courage to keep going when things get difficult. Believe in yourself, respect your journey, and never be afraid of failure because every setback teaches you something that can make you stronger.”



The interactive session gave students an opportunity to interact with her during the session and gain insights into the journey that took her from wrestling at a young age to winning gold at the Commonwealth Games. Ms. Geeta Phogat encouraged them to stay focused on what they want to achieve and not allow difficult periods to make them give up on their goals.

For the students, the interaction offered more than a glimpse into the life of a sporting champion. Her achievements are well known, but listening to her speak about the work and challenges involved gave the students a closer look at what it takes to reach that level.
