Professor Tariq Al-Mahdi, Head of the Surgery Department at the University Hospital Sharjah, said: “The emergency department at the University Hospital Sharjah received a ninety-year-old patient in an emergency and critical condition on the evening of one of the days of this week at eleven o’clock in the evening, and he was suffering from insufficiency and collapse in blood circulation, Severe pain in the abdomen and back, He was received by the emergency department of the hospital upon his arrival in an equipped ambulance. Immediately, the case was diagnosed with clinical examinations and Dr. Ahmed El Fassi, a consultant vascular surgeon, was summoned, as it was found that there was a case of aortic rupture, which is one of the most critical and difficult cases.



And he continued: “This is a rare case where there was blood leakage inside the abdominal circumference as a result of a perforation in the aorta and sagging of 80 mm, in addition to severe symptoms that required emergency surgical intervention.



Dr. Ahmed Al-Fassi added, “After medical consultations with Dr. SaherArour, a consultant vascular surgeon, we decided, as a team of vascular surgery consultants and our colleagues in the anesthesiology department, to intervene immediately to save the patient.” where we performed a compound surgery on the aorta and the pelvic arteries branching from it, and stents were implanted with advanced interventional technology.



Dr. Ahmed Al-Fassi added that the patient's condition has become completely stable based on clinical and vital evaluations after surgery.



In the same context, Prof. Dr. Hakam Yassin, Medical Director of the University Hospital Sharjah, and Consultant Pediatrician and Neonatologist, said: “We have distinguished medical competencies working in delicate and complex surgical specialties, working as an integrated medical team. In this case, the patient found integrated support from the ambulance team and Emergency, laboratory and diagnostic radiology, skilled vascular surgery consultants, discipline and experience of the nursing team, as well as support for the team of consultants in the anesthesia and intensive care departments.
